This is who we are
We are a local tour operator proudly based in Berastagi, North Sumatera. And we are proud members of the Indonesian Tour Guide Association (Himpunan Pramuwisata Indonesia). HPI is the only tourism guiding organization established by the government in Indonesia.
At Soul of North Sumatera, we specialize in creating authentic travel experiences that highlight the natural beauty, culture, and traditions of our beloved region. From the amazing Lake Toba, discover the stunning beauty of Mount Sibayak in Berastagi, to Explore the tropical rainforest of Bukit Lawang and meet the incredible orangutans in their natural habitat, we design tours that connect travelers with the real heart of North Sumatera. Nusan (Founder/English Tour Guide & Mountain Guide)
Our founder is a graduate of Sriwijaya University in Palembang, holding a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture. His love for photography and mountain trekking began in 2017 and has since evolved into a lifelong mission: to introduce travelers to the raw beauty and cultural richness of North Sumatera. To date, he has guided over 350 adventurers from across the globe, offering immersive experiences that go far beyond the typical tourist path.
Rini (Dutch Tour Guide)
Meet Mrs. Rini, our only female guide, fluent in both Dutch and English, with over 13 years of experience leading tours in North Sumatera. She specializes in guiding tourists from the Netherlands and is known for her warm personality and deep knowledge of the region. Beyond guiding, Mrs. Rini is passionate about sharing her expertise and mentoring younger guides, helping to cultivate the next generation of travel professionals within our company.
Bangun (German Tour Guide)
Meet Mr. Bangun—a friendly, experienced guide with a degree in German Literature and more than 15 years of showing travelers from all over the world the best of Sumatera. He’s passionate about culture, nature, and connecting with people, and has led countless tours not just around North Sumatra, but also through the beautiful regions of Bukittinggi and Padang in West Sumatra. With Pak Bangun, you're not just taking a trip—you’re exploring like a local and making memories along the way.
Paul (France Tour Guide)
Meet Mr. Paul, our experienced guide fluent in both French and English, with over 14 years of leading tours primarily for travelers from France. He is the only member of our team who can also step in as a driver in case of emergencies, ensuring safety and comfort throughout the journey. Paul has a great passion for nature and wildlife, making every tour with him an authentic adventure into the wild.
